SPIRIT Of The LIVING GOD

Spirit of the living God,

fall afresh on me.

I. We declare and affirm our belief that the LORD’s primary purpose for us is to provide for the orderly and continued development of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Hawaii.

II. We understand the basic elements of Catholic charismatic renewal to be:

i. Committing oneself to JESUS CHRIST as personal Lord and Savior.

ii. Being baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT.

iii. Receiving and using charismatic gifts for the building of one’s personal spirituality and ministry in the local church

iv. Developing a life of holiness in a Catholic context of faith and practice.

v. Growing together as brothers and sisters in communities and faith and love;

vi. Witnessing about JESUS CHRIST through personal testimony and works of mercy and justice.

III. In order to carry out our purpose we have agreed together to:

i. Intercede with the LORD JESUS for the body of Christ and the charismatic renewal in particular;

ii. Prayerfully seek the Lord’s will and direction for the HCCRS in Hawaii;

iii. Support, sponsor and/or conduct appropriate activities such as retreats, workshops, iturgies, and conferences for participants and leaders;

iv. Establish and operate a charismatic renewal office;

v. Maintain close communications and cooperation with the Bishop and with the National Service Committee for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the United States;

vi. Serve as the focal point and center of communications for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Hawaii;

vii. Foster unity and cooperation among Catholic Charismatic prayer groups in thediocese.

viii. Foster healthy ecumenical relations with other denominational expressions of charismatic renewal.

IV. We pledge our obedience to and cooperation with the Bishop of Honolulu in all areas pertaining to this organization and its activities.

V. We encourage all charismatics to participate fully in the life of the church.

VI. Finally, we adopt and apply to ourselves these words from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians: “It is our desire to ...live lives worthy of the calling we have received, with perfect humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another lovingly.” We will “make every effort to preserve the unity which has the Spirit as its origin and peace as its binding force.”
