Who Are We?

We are Roman Catholics who are committed to serving JESUS in Hawaii through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT. We represent various Charismatic activities: Prayer Groups, Small Christian Communities, and Fellowships. We are Priests, Deacons, Administrators, School and CCD teachers, Youth Ministers, Special Ministers of the Eucharist, Lectors, Music Ministers, Ushers, Altar Servers, grandparents, married and single.

Services Offered

HCCRS provides the following services.

Life in the SPIRIT Seminars: Your parish, community or service organization would be provided free-of-charge with a trained team to conduct this ministry building seminar in either a weekend retreat or parish mission format.

Charismatic Masses & Prayer Services: On special feast days Charismatics from all over the island join in celebrating the Eucharist. Quarterly, Charismatics from all over the island form one large prayer group meeting. Special Charismatic Masses and Prayer Services can also be arranged for individual parishes.

Workshops: Every month we offer a half a day class to help Charismatics grow in the SPIRIT. There is no charge

Intercessory Prayer. An e-mail prayer chain, of over seventy anointed Charismatic intercessors, are standing by to pray on your behalf.

Establishing & supporting Prayer Groups. HCCRS will provide a trained team of experienced Charismatic Leaders to assist with teaching and mentoring new and struggling prayer groups.

Annual Regional Conference. Once a year, Charismatics from across the State join together to listen to well known National Charismatic Speakers. It’s an anointed weekend of learning, healing, praise & worship and fellowship.

Leadership Retreats. Twice a year weekend Retreats are held at St. Stephen’s Diocesan Center to help leaders and ministerial heads recharge.

Steubenville Retreats for Priests & Deacons. Does your priest or deacon deserve a vacation? Each year we send two Priests or Deacons on an all-expense-paid renewing Clergy Retreat at the University of Steubenville. It’s a few days of peace, joy, inspiration and renewal

History

In 1970, a group of Maryknoll sisters were baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT and started Hawaii’s first Catholic Charismatic Prayer Meeting. From this original gathering, other prayer groups were formed. In 1975, leaders from these groups were led by the HOLY SPIRIT to meet regularly to establish good communications, coordinate activities, and to foster unity among the different groups. After several months of discussions, prayer, and discerning the LORD’s will, the Hawaii Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services was organized. Today we consist of 16 prayer groups and two affliliated communities with an active membership of 500+ throughout the state.
